What is My Case Worth?
The value of your case is determined by the extent of your injuries and how those injuries are affecting your daily life. For instance, are you able to work or enjoy activities that you used to participate in? There are a lot of details we need to understand to accurately value your potential claim. In general, you may be eligible to pursue compensation to recover damages related to your injuries, which may include:
- Medical expenses
- Physical therapy
- Lost wages
- Loss of future earning capacity
- Pain and suffering
- Emotional distress
There may be other damages you are eligible for, and a qualified attorney can help you to pursue the maximum amount of compensation for your injuries.
At Phillips Law Group, we are dedicated to providing the answers to your questions and protecting your interests and legal rights, if you have a valid case. We recommend that you schedule a free consultation with one of our knowledgeable attorneys to review the specifics of your claim and discuss your potential legal options.
Why You May Benefit From a Lawyer?
Handling a personal injury claim on your own is difficult, especially if you are trying to recover from your injuries so you can try to get on with your life. Dealing with insurance companies on your own can be quite risky because they are looking to deny or devalue your claim.
This is why working with a lawyer can be a big advantage to injury victims. Generally, clients who work with lawyers recover more compensation than those who do not.
Our licensed attorneys are well-versed in Arizona laws and know how to apply them to the specifics of a claim when building a case.
Another benefit is that we can help prevent you from missing any important filing deadlines, such as the deadline for filing your claim. Arizona law only allows two years from the date of your accident for you to file. If you miss that deadline, you may lose your chance to recover any damages sustained in the accident.
There are some exceptions to filing deadlines, but they are not all in your favor. Some may be later, but some deadlines are as short as 180 days. The bottom line is that you do not want to risk your claim, and we can review the specifics of your claim to see what deadlines may apply.

Handling Insurance Companies
After any type of motor vehicle accident, you are likely to receive a call from the insurance companies involved in handling your claim. Unfortunately, many accident victims are still in a vulnerable state when they get this call and may innocently say something that can damage the value of their claim.
It is worth mentioning that insurance companies are not on your side. As a company, their priority is to pay out as little compensation as possible. When they call, no matter what they tell you, you are under no obligation to make a recorded statement and should simply tell them that you will get back to them after speaking with your attorney. If we represent you, we can handle all communication with the insurance company on your behalf to help protect the value of your claim.

Arizona Scooter Laws and Regulations
There are not as many regulations for scooters as there are for motorcycles or even bicycles, but as scooters increase in popularity it is important to know what rules apply for each type of scooter:
Motorized scooters are allowed on roads but may not be driven on bicycle paths and require operators to have:
- A valid motorcycle license
- Current insurance
- Proof of registration
An electric scooter or bicycle has different requirements:
- Operators may not ride this vehicle on a roadway, only on designated bicycle paths
- No license is required, same as for a bike
- No insurance, title or registration is required
- To be classified as an electric bike or scooter, the total weight must be 75 pounds or less
- The maximum allowable speed on this vehicle is 25 mph
Another type of two-wheeled vehicle is a moped. It is sometimes classified as a type of motorcycle. Depending on its ability, it may be classified as a scooter and required to follow the same regulations. A moped must also have:
- The capacity to go at least 25 mph on a flat road
- Two to three wheels
- An engine with no more than 50cc capacity
- No more than 1.5 bhp
The minimum amount of insurance required for these vehicles is coverage for $10,000 in total property damage liability per accident, and coverage that provides at least $15,000 for bodily injury per person or $30,000 per accident.
Liability for a Scooter Crash
To have a valid scooter accident claim, you must be able to prove that there was an act of negligence that contributed to the crash. Negligence may extend to a variety of potential parties, including:
- Scooter operator
- Other drivers
- Government entity
- Other third parties (such as the vehicle manufacturer if it contributed to the accident)
