Phoenix Girl Dies After 8-Y.O Brother Goes on Joyride

A 6-year-old girl from Phoenix is dead after her brother goes for a joyride in the family vehicle and crashes into a pole. The parents thought the children had been kidnapped when it was discovered that the family vehicle was missing shortly after 10p.m.

Police started receiving numerous calls about a hit-and-run accident and another from someone who believed they saw a child driving a car.

Local police, believing the children had been kidnapped, followed the vehicle and attempted to get the driver to pull over. On 19th Avenue and Cocopah the vehicle veered right and hit a pole. When police officers rushed to the car they realized the two children were alone and still wearing their pajamas.

The boy suffered minor injuries while his sister was taken to a local area hospital where she died from her injuries.
