In late July, volunteers with Phillips Law Group headed out on road trips to Mesa and Yuma to help provide backpacks to kids in need\u00a0through Arizona Helping Hands\u2019 Back-to-School pop-up shop initiative. Through the campaign, more than 800 children across Arizona got the supplies they need to start the school year off on the right foot.<\/p>\n
Over a two-week period,\u00a0Arizona Helping Hands\u00a0hit the road with the help of their\u00a0new mobile unit\u00a0to deliver backpacks and school supplies to children in foster care across the Grand Canyon State who previously did not have access to the organization\u2019s resources. Staff with the nonprofit, alongside many enthusiastic volunteers, visited 12 cities and were able to provide 838 children with supplies.<\/p>\n
At the Yuma event where Phillips Law Group volunteers assisted, more than 100 backpacks were distributed to grateful kids and their parents and advocates who showed up in spite of the record-breaking heat in Arizona in July.<\/p>\n
Ilce Mondragon, the firm\u2019s Community Relations Specialist, was especially touched by the story of one individual at the event who cares for five foster children, two of which are already in college. She explained that the kids \u201clove her as if she was [their] biological mom\u201d and that the woman has been taking care of them for over 9 years.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was so grateful,\u201d Ilce said, adding that one of the kids is preparing to start college and has a bright future with the goal of becoming a doctor.<\/p>\n

No matter where in Arizona foster children like that call home, Arizona Helping Hands and their #FosterAllies volunteers like those with Phillips Law Group can reach them to get them much-needed resources like school supplies. The Arizona Helping Hands\u2019 Back-to-School pop-up was a huge success, and one that our firm was proud to be a part of.<\/p>\n
