Former NFL Players Sue Over Head Injuries

More than a 100 former NFL players are suing the NFL over head injuries. In the lawsuit the former football players claim that league failed, “to take reasonable steps necessary to protect players from devastating head injuries. Moreover, the NFL has downplayed and misrepresented the issues and misled players concerning the risks associated with concussions.”

The lawsuit also cites recent research that links concussions to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a neurodegenerative disease that results in Alzheimer’s-like symptoms, including memory loss and mood swings. According to CNN, CTE results only from repeated blows to the head, and can be diagnosed only after death.
