Knee and ankle replacement surgeries are supposed to improve a patient’s life by relieving pain or joint damage, but sadly, some knee and ankle implants have been recalled due to faulty design, including Exactech knee implants such as Optetrak, Optetrak Logic, Truliant, and Vantage.

If you or a loved one has undergone a total knee or ankle replacement surgery that used Exactech implants and ended up with serious complications, you may be entitled to compensation following a recent Exactech recall.

Thousands of Americans opt for knee replacement surgeries every year to repair joint issues and relieve pain, and many undergo procedures to get ankle replacement implants as well. A number of those patients may have received Exactech implants.

Unfortunately, in August 2021, Exactech recalled its knee and ankle replacement implants as a result of a defect in the vacuum-seal packaging of its products. The vacuum bags allowed oxygen to reach the polyethylene knee insert before it was implanted, and that oxidization allegedly degrades the plastic insert.

Many patients with Exactech implants suffered failure of their implants and needed to get early revision surgery. The defective implants resulted in complications including pain, difficulty bearing weight, mobility problems, bone loss, component fracturing, and finally, knee or ankle revision surgery.

If you believe you or a loved one suffered complications or needed revision surgery after receiving an Exactech implant, you may be able to pursue damages. In an Exactech knee and ankle implant lawsuit, you may be able to get compensation for past and future medical expenses, previous or future pain and suffering, loss of wages and other economic losses, and more.
