Doctor Suspended After Patient Dies

On Wednesday, Florida’s Department of Health issued an emergency suspension of Zannos Grekos’s medical license after he allegedly performed an illegal stem therapy on an unidentified patient that died during the procedure last week. According to CNN, the deceased patient was suffering from pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary fibrosis.

The emergency suspension was ordered after Dr. Grekos violated previous restrictions on his license. In February 2011, state authorities placed a restriction on Dr. Grekos that prevented him from using stem cells in any treatment, after he performed stem cell therapy on a 69-year old woman who later died.

Dr. Grekos can appeal the emergency suspension order.
