Meet Samantha Gilchrist, ERC Department Supervisor at Phillips Law Group

At Phillips Law Group, we try to celebrate our staff members for the great assets that they are to our company every single day. As part of a new series highlighting some of our team members, we interviewed Samantha Gilchrist, Juris Doctor, and ERC Department Supervisor/Team Leader. As a vital member of the ERC specialist team at Phillips, Sam helps us better help our clients to get the tax credits they and their businesses deserve. 

Opinionated and Loyal

To start, Sam was asked how her friends would describe her, and replied, “Opinionated, not afraid to speak my mind,” and “loyal.” The ERC team at Phillips would wholeheartedly agree with this assessment. 

Samantha was also asked about the last movie she went to, and said, “The last movie I saw was the new Avatar. I wasn’t sure what I was going to think but I ended up really liking it!” 

Harry Styles’ Fan Club

When it comes to music, Sam revealed that she would rock out to “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” by Shania Twain at karaoke night, calling it a “classic.” 

But she’s also into more recent performers, too. When asked which famous person she would most want to meet, alive or dead, she replied, “Harry Styles…I am a huge fangirl!”

Making a Difference

Going back in time a little bit, Samantha was questioned about her favorite subject in school, and had a lot to say. 

“I didn’t have a ‘favorite subject’ until I got to college,” she noted. “I majored in political science and minored in criminal justice. Both were SUPER interesting to me.”

“Learning about the legal system in the US inspired me to go to law school,” she revealed. “I knew I wanted to keep learning and wanted more opportunity to make a difference in others’ lives.”

World Traveler

As for her first job, Sam noted that, like many young people, she started out babysitting. “I babysat all through high school [and] college. I nannied for a bit in college as well.”

We also asked Samantha if she had a favorite trip or vacation she’d been on, and she said, “I went to Ireland last summer which was absolutely amazing.” She added that she is also “going to Alaska this summer which I am SO excited about!”

Speaking of favorites, the ERC team leader noted that her favorite board games are Scrabble or Yahtzee, and commented “My family always gets super competitive with each other but it’s so much fun.”

Future Dog Mom?

Finally, Sam was asked if she has any beloved pets, and said that while she doesn’t currently, “I grew up with a yellow lab named Lucy, [and] in the next few years I would love to get a golden retriever.” 

It’s clear that Samantha is one of the people at Phillips that makes the firm truly special – and we hope to someday see her new dog visiting the office in Phoenix!
