A Mother is Dead and Her Daughter Injured in ATV Crash Near Yuma

atv crash in desert near yumaYUMA, AZ – A woman was killed and her daughter hospitalized after their ATV crashed in the desert near Yuma last Wednesday night.

According to a report by 12 News, a 19-year-old woman contacted authorities at about 7:30 p.m. and told them that an ATV she had been riding with her 54-year-old mother overturned and crushed them. She was unable to recall the precise location of the incident. Yuma Police and Border Patrol agents searched the area for three hours before they located the crash site in the desert near Avenue 9E and E 40th Street.

Despite life-saving measures by first responders, the mother died at the scene. Her daughter was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
