Suspected DUI Crash Kills Young Woman

drink and drive spelled out on dicePHOENIX, AZ – A young woman was killed on Monday morning after a suspected drunk driver ran a red light in north Phoenix and collided with her vehicle, CBS 5 reports.

A Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling east on Bethany Home Road at about 7 a.m. that morning when it ran the red light at 15th Avenue and hit a southbound Nissan Sentra. The force of the collision sent the Nissan through a block wall and into the yard of a nearby home.

The Nissan’s driver, 23-year-old Selemawit Negash, died from her injuries at the hospital shortly after the crash.

The unidentified male driver of the Chevrolet was also hospitalized with minor injuries. Police believe he may have been impaired at the time of the crash.
