Two women were hospitalized on Sunday night after their car went off a Phoenix bridge and ended up on a dry river bed nearly 75 below. It was reported that the driver of the vehicle lost control and truck a concrete barrier causing it to go down a rocky embankment to the river bottom.

Police have indicated that the women were hospitalized with serious, but non-life threatening injuries after the incident. It took first responders nearly 30 minutes to remove the women from their vehicle.

Reports have not yet indicated what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle or if she was driving under the influence of alcohol. With the dozens of accidents caused by drivers losing control of their vehicle each year, we must practice defensive driving to avoid these types of accidents from occurring in the future.
